Window Art, Digital Hut |
3 hr illustration time
At the end of January, I was invited to draw a mural on a glass door at one of my good friends office space. I was really excited as this my first time using a chalk marker medium for window art. Honestly speaking I did not know what to expect… however it was important for me to pre plan my concept design. My friend Chris, gave me complete freedom in the design process.. the only thing was to “keep it geeky”.
I’m keen on chalking again, definitely not too difficult to pick up if you’re an illustrator and it was really fun.. aside from aching arms.
Thank you Chris from Digital Hut for having me!
Chalking Steps:
- Prepare your design, sketch you what you envision. You may choose to incorporate colour !
- Print out your design so you can reference as you chalk.
- Decide which side of the glass you’re chalking on, if you are drawing on the back then you will need to invert your image when you’re printing. (Essentially you’re drawing back to front).
Notes / Learnings:
- Tools: Paint & Liquid Chalk Markers from Officeworks
- Shake the markers well before use !
- Smudging , Be aware of where you place your palm… you may need to hover your hands
- Close the markers when you’re not using them… they dry up
